On 1 November, the largest investment in bulk billing in the 40-year history of Medicare took effect, with the tripling of the bulk billing incentive for local GPs.

Bulk billing rates in recent years have declined sharply, making it harder and more expensive for Australians to see a GP. We know this is the case in Eden-Monaro.

This historic investment means it will be easier for 23,604 children and their families and 47,746 pensioners and concession cardholders in Eden-Monaro to see a bulk billed GP.

On top of our investment in bulk billing, we are investing in an $1.5 billion indexation boost across the board to Medicare rebates, increasing the amount that doctors receive for Medicare services and reducing pressure on GPs.

Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain said she understood how important it was to be able to see a doctor when and where people need it.

“This historic investment into bulk billing will make a big difference to families, pensioners, and concession holders in Eden-Monaro,” Ms McBain said.

“The Government is committed to making it more affordable for you and your family to get the health care you need.”
